The Youth Project is pleased to announce that Kate Shewan has returned to her responsibilities as Executive Director of the Youth Project. Ms. Shewan has resumed her leadership of the daily operations, personnel, and programming of the organization on a permanent basis.
Ms. Shewan has served as Executive Director of the Youth Project since 2015. Under her leadership, the Youth Project has expanded its activities in support of 2SLGBTQ+ youth and increased the organization’s presence throughout the Province.
Earlier this fall, the Youth Project announced it would be undertaking a phase of community engagement and revisioning, in order to better serve its 2SLGBTQ+ youth clientele. As part of that process, a work place assessment report was commissioned. The Board and Executive Director will work together to implement recommendations from that report, aiming to foster positive changes within the organization. The Youth Project is confident that Ms. Shewan’s track record as an advocate for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and her years of experience with the Youth Project positions her well to assist the organization through this process.
“I am pleased to be able to continue the Youth Project’s important work to make Nova Scotia a safer, healthier, and happier place for 2SLGBTQ+ youth,” Ms. Shewan said. “I look forward to working with the Board, our Youth Board, and staff on our ongoing strategic planning initiatives.”
