PrEP – A Pill to Prevent HIV: Public Information Session

Nov. 29th, 2017

Authored by: YP Staff

In 2016 Health Canada approved the first-ever pill to prevent HIV infection. This approach is called Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis – more commonly known as PrEP. However, many people have still not heard about PrEP, or know very little about it.

This information session will address the most common questions about PrEP, including:
· how does PrEP work?
· who is it recommended for?
· what about side effects?
· how can I get PrEP?
· what if my doctor has never heard of it?
· how much will it cost?
· will my health plan cover it?
