Are you a youth who has recently come out and/or learned some new things about your identity? Do you have questions about how to build safer 2SLGBTQIA+ community spaces? Are you feeling unsure of how to engage with in-person spaces while navigating covid precautions? Have you ever felt overwhelmed by social media and worried to engage in conversations on these platforms?
All of these feelings/questions/thoughts are super welcome and encouraged at this upcoming panel! You’re invited to talk about the complexities and magic of navigating queer community spaces, disrupting ableism in event planning, and moving towards spaces that encourage collective community care in the fullest ways. Hear from youth in our local community, ask questions, learn with each other (along with some time just to chat and snack!). We are hoping that this space can feel like a warm welcome to new connections, perspectives, friendships, and community spaces! A quiet space will be available to participants during the event.
This event takes place on Friday July 22nd at 7pm. It is a hybrid event with digital and in-person joining options. The in-person option is indoors at the John W. Lindsay YMCA, masks are required and will be available at the door.
Please pre-register for the event because there are limited spots available. You can pre-register through our DM’s or by emailing Hanley at: youthboard@youthproject.ns.ca
Access Notes: The online component will be on Zoom with automated closed captions available. The in-person space is at the JWL YMCA which has an accessible entrance on South Park Street with wide automatic doors. There is an elevator that will take you directly to the program room. The program room is very large, has two wide non-automatic doors that will be propped open. There are all genders washrooms on the same floor. In each washroom there is one accessible stall equipped with grab bars and a wide door. Masks are required.
