Join us in protesting against “Coming Out Ministries” visit to Nova Scotia hosted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church during the week of July 20-28. At the church’s annual Campmeeting in Pugwash, “Coming Out Ministries” (a group of “redeemed” “ex-gay” spiritual leaders) intend to share personal accounts of how they’ve been freed “from the chains of homosexuality,” “plucked from the burning,” “redeemed” of being queer/lesbian/bi/gay, and “cured” of transgender/genderqueer identity through prayer and devotion. They use shame tactics and stigma to condemn non-heterosexual orientations and non-binary gender identity as a sin. This event will be held at Camp Pugwash where youth will be in attendance. This kind of conversion messaging is damaging, destructive, and soul annihilating.
NSRAP, Halifax Pride, and The Youth Project are organizing this protest and education event to raise awareness about conversion therapy style programs happening in our province. The protest aims to put pressure on Camp Pugwash, the Maritime Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and the Village of Pugwash to uninvite “Coming Out Ministries”. Hatred of 2SLGBTQIA+ folk has no place in Nova Scotia.
