Deadline for nominations: June 21 at 6pm AST.
AGM date: Tuesday June 29th, 7pm, online
The Youth Project is a non-profit that supports the inclusion, wellness, and celebration of 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual+) youth across Nova Scotia. Through education, programming, and support services, the Youth Project provides support and services to youth, 25 and under, around issues of sexual orientation and gender identity.
This dynamic Board is currently undergoing essential, structural shifts to be able to implement change in a way that centres underserved/underrepresented 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. We are seeking individuals who want to participate in major strategic planning that imagines the Youth Project as a vibrant, creative, joyful, accessible and anti-oppressive organization serving all 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.
The Youth Project is a youth-led organization which means that our Youth Board ensures that our programs and services are relevant and needed by those we serve. Our Board of Directors is responsible for maintaining organisational stability through supporting staff, overseeing executive staff, developing progressive policies, and supporting the leadership of the Youth Board in strategic planning.
The Youth Project specifically encourages applications from individuals who are enthusiastic about advocating for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and who are committed to collaborating with the staff, and the Youth Board to effect essential organizational revisioning.
Ideal Board applicants are members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community that prioritize youth leadership and are passionate about anti-racist/anti-oppressive strategic revisioning. We are currently prioritizing Board members with the following skills and experience:
The first priority of the board will be to work alongside the Youth Board and staff to create new policy and procedures to match the current organisational strategic plans. Beyond that, expectations for Board Members are to attend Board meetings once a month and engage with various programs, fundraising opportunities, and policy development according to the individual member’s capacity.
Volunteering as part of the Youth Project means that you will be a part of a dynamic and youth-led community. Having dedicated people in these crucial roles will allow the Youth Project the space and momentum to continue implementing lasting change within this vital community space. We are excited to meet the new people who are eager to get involved and incorporate their knowledge and experience into our ever-growing community.
