This Closed Black Healing Space event will be hosted by Francesca Ekwuyasi, Bria Miller and co-facilitated by Teo Ferguson over Zoom on Friday June 18th at 7pm, held in partnership with @khybercentre @southhousehalifax and @nsyouthproject . Please note that this is a closed space workshop for Black community. Registration is required (info below), and we will have automated closed-captioning available.
With this event, we want to hold space for open discussion, where participants can offer or receive peer support and make art together if interested. Facilitators have prepared writing prompts and visual art activities to encourage participants to create and express themselves with the focus of grounding and processing of difficult emotions in light of the inescapable flood of social media with violence against Black bodies, further heightened by the pandemic and increased social media use. With this workshop we aim to promote healing and uplift Black voices in a space held by us, for us.
To register, please contact Bria at bria@khyber.ca to express your interest. We would love if you joined us! Once registered, a private Zoom link will be sent to you.
