We’re excited to host youth events for Pride 2018!
New to the YP this Pride? Don’t know how to get involved?
That’s ok! Our events require no sign-up beforehand, just drop on by if something looks fun & interesting. YP staff, volunteers, and fabulous youth board members will be on hand to say hi. If you have questions feel free to drop us a line! firstname.lastname@example.org or 429-5429.
Check out our lineup:
Thursday, July 19th:
5:00-7:00 / Halifax Central Library – 2nd Floor
The Youth Project and Halifax Central Library are teaming up to bring you a crafternoon of creating your own pride stuff! Signs, wearable stuff, buttons, jewellery and more. Free and supplies are provided. Create your own message about what Pride means to you! Open to youth 12-25.
8:00-10:30 / Garrison Grounds
A dance for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies, ages 19 and under. A chance to kick off the Pride festival with a dance under the stars, and plenty of glitter! Free to attend, snacks and drinks provided. Brought to you by Halifax Pride and The Youth Project! An area will be set up nearby if parents/guardians would like to stay. A drug- and alcohol-free space.
Friday, July 20th:
Float-Building & Pride BBQ
2:30-4:00 / @ The Youth Project (2281 Brunswick)
All youth are welcome on the YP’s parade float – but first we have to put it together! All youth are welcome to grab a paintbrush and help us decorate the float and/or come by for a free BBQ! Open to youth 25 and under.
Saturday, July 21st:
THE PARADE! 1:00
If you are joining us on the YP float, meet at the YP (2281 Brunswick street) at noon. If you can’t make noon, head down to the marshalling area (bottom of Cornwallis street) to meet us before the 1:00 start time. We’ll update with our parade entry number when we get it!
Monday, July 23rd:
2:00-4:00 / @ The Youth Project (2281 Brunswick)
We’re opening up the Youth Project for an event for gender-creative, gender nonconforming and transgender kids, up to age 13! Come do some art and play some games, and parents can have a chance to chat too.

Youth Project Community Open House
Ever wanted to come to the Youth Project for a tour, see what we do day-to-day, meet the staff & volunteers, see our space? Come and hang out! We’re throwing an open house and the whole community is welcome. Come have some pride-themed snacks and check us out, make some buttons, and see the fuller scope of our work! (The YP is only accessible by stairs, sorry for the inconvenience this may cause).
Friday, July 27th:
The Sound of Music Drag-a-Long!
ALL AGES WELCOME.
2:30 – Halifax Central Library, Paul O’Regan Hall
Know all the words to do-rae-mi? Long to twirl amongst the alps like Maria? Join us for a film screening and live performances with Maria (aka Shayla Shenanigans) and a cast of drag performers for an interactive and super fun Sound of Music drag-a-long. Sure to be one of your favourite things.
